Questions we get asked

What test frequency should I use?

Match it to where the component will actually work. Power capacitors are usually measured at 100 or 120 Hz, general parts at 1 kHz, and RF parts at 100 kHz and above. Keep the drive level appropriate too, or the part heats or biases and the reading moves.

Do I need a four-wire Kelvin connection?

For low resistance, yes. Below an ohm or so the resistance of the leads themselves is a large part of what you are reading, and a four-wire connection measures the part rather than the wiring. Use proper Kelvin clips or a fixture rather than improvising.

Can you supply fixtures and calibration?

Yes. Surface-mount and leaded fixtures, Kelvin probes, and UKAS or traceable calibration. Tell us the size of the parts you are measuring and the ranges you need and we will quote the lot together.
