Four things worth settling first
The ceiling falls as you turn the current or voltage up
It is the most common trap in this category. The GPS-6800 reaches 300 nF at 1 kV but only 60 nF at 10 kV. The CRT-200P reaches 10 mΩ at 50 A but 2.5 mΩ at 200 A. Check the figure at the setting your procedure specifies, not the headline.
A missing nameplate is not a dead end
The TCT-12C establishes transformer capacity by measuring it rather than reading it off a plate, so a unit whose nameplate is gone, painted over or disputed can still be identified on site, and a declared rating can be checked against what the unit is.
Half of these need a socket
The GPS-8815A and CRT-4660C run from internal batteries. The CRT-100P, CRT-200P, TCT-12C and GPS-6800 all need mains at the test point, and the GPS-6800 is a 22.75 kg one-piece set. Worth settling before a site visit, not during one.
The TCT-12C has a load test limit
One instrument performs the load test outright on transformers up to 1600 kVA, or up to 2500 kVA at one third rated current with the result converted. Above that an external CT extends the range. No-load testing is not subject to the same limit.
