Resolution bandwidth runs from 1 Hz to 1 MHz in a 1-3-10 sequence with a shape factor better than 4.8:1. Two carriers a few hertz apart resolve as two signals rather than one broad peak, which a 10 Hz floor cannot do.
A displayed average noise level of −161 dBm/Hz normalised to 1 Hz with the standard 20 dB preamplifier on, so low-level signals sit clear of the floor rather than buried in it.
The intermediate frequency stage is digital rather than analogue, which removes the drift and gain variation of analogue filters and holds total amplitude accuracy below 0.7 dB.
An optional 100 kHz to 3.2 GHz tracking generator turns the analyser into a scalar network analyser for filter, amplifier and antenna response measurement. Output is −20 to 0 dBm with ±3 dB flatness.
EMI pre-compliance adds a CISPR 16 quasi-peak detector and EasySpectrum software. Reflection adds VSWR, return loss and reflection coefficient. Advanced adds channel power, ACPR, occupied bandwidth and third-order intercept.
A 1024 × 600 display with a 751 × 501 waveform area, four independent traces and markers, and 256 MB of internal storage with USB and LAN for transfer and remote control.
Resolution bandwidth and noise floor decide what an analyser can actually show you.
A spectrum analyser sweeps a bandpass filter across the span and plots what comes through. The width of that filter, the resolution bandwidth, sets how close two signals can be before they merge into a single peak. An analyser with a 10 Hz floor cannot separate carriers a few hertz apart, and there is no setting that will make it.
The GPS-SA3032X goes down to 1 Hz, with a shape factor better than 4.8:1 so the skirts of one response do not swamp a smaller neighbour. That matters for sideband and spurious work, where the signal you are looking for sits close to one far larger than it.
Displayed average noise sets the smallest signal you can see. With the preamplifier off the floor sits at around −141 dBm/Hz, and a weak carrier close to that level is indistinguishable from the noise around it.
The standard 20 dB preamplifier drops the floor to −161 dBm/Hz normalised to 1 Hz. The same carrier now stands well above the noise, with enough margin to measure its level rather than just detect it.
