Every signal, perfectly defined.
Precision DDS generation for laboratory, educational and production test work. Two channels, 200 MSa/s sampling and 13-bit vertical resolution give accurate waveforms up to 60 MHz, with six modulation formats, sweep, burst and a 100 MHz counter built in.
Four models from 15 to 60 MHz sine output.
Independent or synchronised, with switchable main and auxiliary roles.
8 k points of arbitrary waveform memory.
1 Hz to 100 MHz at 32-bit precision.
A general-purpose bench source for anywhere a known, repeatable signal is needed.
Stimulus signals for circuit development, prototype bring-up and characterisation work.
Clear front-panel controls and a 3.5″ colour display make it straightforward for teaching labs.
Repeatable stimulus for go/no-go testing, with RS-232 or USB control from a test PC.
Inject known-good signals to trace faults through audio, filter and amplifier stages.
Standard and arbitrary waveforms, full modulation, sweep, burst and measurement in a single 250 mm-wide instrument.
Two channels driven by direct digital synthesis, with 1 µHz setting resolution and ±5 ppm accuracy. Run them independently, synchronise them, or swap which channel acts as main and which as auxiliary.
Five standard waveforms — sine, square, triangle, pulse and noise — plus 32 built-in arbitrary waveforms and 50 locations for your own, each 8192 points at 13-bit vertical resolution.
AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK and PSK, driven from the internal modulating source or from an external input, so one instrument covers most signal simulation work.
Linear or logarithmic sweep from 1 ms to 500 s, forward or reverse. Burst output from 1 to 65,535 cycles, infinite or gated, for testing transient and start-up behaviour.
An integrated frequency counter covering 1 Hz to 100 MHz with gate time adjustable from 0.01 s to 10 s, plus a 32-bit event counter and period and pulse-width measurement.
RS-232 and USB Device interfaces at 115200 baud, with waveform editing software supplied. Optional USB Host takes a flash drive for storing instrument states and arbitrary waveforms.
The clearest difference between the GPS-2100 series and a basic function generator.
A plain function generator produces a steady waveform. Most real-world signals are not steady: they carry information in their amplitude, frequency or phase, and a receiver, filter or demodulator has to be tested against that behaviour rather than against a fixed tone.
The GPS-2100 series applies AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK or PSK to the carrier from its own internal modulating source, or from an external input on the rear panel when the modulating signal has to come from the circuit under test. The internal source offers sine, square, triangle, up-ramp and down-ramp shapes. Sweep and burst cover the remaining cases, frequency response and transient response respectively.
Carrier amplitude follows the modulating signal. Depth 0% to 120%.
Carrier frequency deviates around the centre, up to the full carrier frequency.
Carrier phase shifts with the modulating waveform, 0° to 360° offset.
Output switches between carrier and modulation amplitude. Keying to 1 MHz.
Output alternates between carrier and hop frequency. Keying to 1 MHz.
Carrier phase steps between two defined states, 0° to 360°.
Four models sharing the same platform, separated only by maximum sine output frequency.
